REVIEWS The beautiful “Once In A Blue Moon” is referenced strongly to the archives of folk and country and is more Nashville than Canada. It is a true gem. You hear it immediately in the opening track where, against the traditional instrumentation, the marvelous voices of Glen Hornblast and backup singer Ruth Frolic stand out. Glen Hornblast makes timeless songs, like past greats John Prine, Mickey Newbury, Townes Van Zandt, Cat Stevens and James Taylor. Once In A Blue Moon is therefore particularly suited to fans of the more traditional roots music. - Erwin Zijleman, Holland READ THE FULL REVIEW (IN DUTCH) -------------------------------------------- "Eventually, Glen will deserve to take his placeamong the best tunesmiths and lyricists of Canada. This album is a fine example of why ... This album: “Once In a Blue Moon,”-- I enjoyed it. Will play it many more times and recommend it. I find every song on this album worth the price of admission. The CD art also perfectly represents the music within. There’s a beautifully printed brochure with full color photographs, lyrics and credits. Let’s hope another Glen Hornblast album will come – and not “once in a blue moon,” but often." - John Apice, No Depression READ THE REVIEW on NO DEPRESSION: --------------------------------------------
CD COMMENTS: "Glen! I keep listening to your cd whilst plowing through marking assignments. My favs are Once in a Blue Moon, River and Isla Mujeres. Beautiful Glen, congrats. The vocalist on Freedom Train is incredible. Thanks for invite for Saturday I'll see you there." "Your cd just gets better with each listening. Love the steel guitar which I didn't expect. Great melodies. Linda is a fan too, and she loves the singing." "I've never heard before so much put in an artfully crafted CD package with Laura's rooftop silhouette of yours truly, Glen Hornblast, the Moonlight Troubador." "I'm finally listening to your CD and am soo enjoying it. What a fantastic job. Now I can listen to you singing your great songs whenever I want! Thanks much. " "Your CD release at Winterfolk was a show-stopper, my friend. What a pleasure it was to be there for you, and to shoot it. Looking forward to all the video installments! " "One morning about 4 months ago, I woke up with a melody in my head. Then I realized that it was Loretta. The melody is engaging, memorable and fun. I don't know why no one has discovered this song and how you do not have a huge international hit. What is missing in the music business these days is melody and this song has it in spades! " "I listened to "Once In A Blue Moon" this morning on my way in to the office." "I was completely knocked out. It's just beautiful in so many ways: songs, singing, sound, insights...I could go on and on …" "I want to tell you how amazing it is that I can calm my bored, frustrated cat with your music. Poor Spooky does not enjoy living in a condo. She can kind of get to be nerve-wracking when she is upset . Yesterday Spooky was aware that I was going out and she started to fuss. I put on the CD and left without a guilty conscience. YES!!" "Absolutely great cd!” "I really enjoyed listening to your new CD. Your songs, vocals and guitar work are excellent and you selected a great group of musicians to accompany you. The production values on the recording are first class. Congratulations!" "Glen's CD has quickly become a favourite. I am thoroughly enjoying thepowerful lyrics and beautiful songs. Thank you for sending it!" "Love, love, Love, love your CD!" "… your CD was fantastic! P. was really thrilled with it and plays it in the car and has it on his earphones while walking Taz in the park. I find it very calming and delightful. Love the combination of tunes, some with a latin feel, some with the ballad......I love the 'stories' in each song. My favourite is Isle of Mujeres. Glen is a wonderful song writer! "
